Our state has a North Carolina Children’s Book Award every year that allows the students to read and vote for their favorite among the nominees. This year our school had very high votes for two titles. I will tell you which at the end of the post! As we read the books to the K-2 students, I have them do a quick picture and fill in the smiley faces for how much they like the book so they remember later. It takes about 3 class sessions to read them all. Here are some of the drawings from the students voting sheets.
Our school’s top picks were That is NOT a Good Idea and The Day the Crayons Quit. The winner will be announced for the state in the next few months!
